Secure- Set Installation
Alliance Glass offers our Secure-Set installation to our commercial customers. Secure-Set* minimizes the potential for break in by adhering the glass in your windows and doors to the frame. There has been a growing trend amongst thieves to remove or deglaze the glass from the windows or doors to gain entry. Secure-Set* makes it more difficult to accomplish this by replacing two sides of the vinyl weather stripping with a high viscosity polyurethane sealant. This forces any would be thief to have to try to cut the glass loose. Law enforcement agencies all agree that anything that makes a thief take longer can be a deterrent.
Other Security Measures
Another wise theft deterrent is installation of laminated safety glass. Laminated safety glass is actually 2 sheets of thinner glass that are bonded to a thin layer of vinyl. Optically, the laminated glass is exactly the same as either tempered or plate glass. The difference in the glasses does not become apparent until it is broken. The plate glass breaks in to big jagged pieces while the tempered glass explodes in to thousands if not millions of little pieces, leaving the entire window opening open and vulnerable. Laminated glass is held together by the vinyl in between the sheets of glass. It usually takes multiple strikes in the same area in order to break through the lamination. A Secure-Set* piece of laminated glass along with a glass break sensor on your alarm goes a long way in preventing theft.
